PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) TREATMENT
Dr Ali provides innovative Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injection Therapy at St Kilda Road Medical Centre, as part of his practice in musculoskeletal and sports medicine.
What is PRP?
The Platelet Rich Plasma treatment uses a patient’s own blood cells. Platelet Rich Plasma consists of two elements: plasma (the liquid portion of blood) and platelets (a type of blood cell) that plays an important role of treatment.
A small sample is collected and placed into a specialised device that separates the plasma and platelets from the rest of the blood. This concentrated plasma is then injected into the area being treated, often under ultrasound guidance.
PRP is being explored in medical practice for a range of applications. Research is ongoing, and results can vary between individuals. Book a consultation with Dr Ali to discuss PRP treatment for your specific concerns.
What is the PRP process?
To create platelet-rich plasma, a blood sample is taken and placed it into a device that rapidly spins the sample, separating out the components of the blood from the platelets and concentrating them within the plasma. After creating platelet-rich plasma from a patient’s blood sample, that solution is injected under ultrasound guidance into the affected area.
The treatment increases the concentration of Platelet Rich Plasma in a specific area. Platelet-rich plasma is a therapeutic option to treat many medical conditions.
How can I book a PRP consultation?
To book a double appointment with Dr Ali to discuss PRP Injection Therapy and the benefits for you please contact St Kilda Road Medical Centre. Dr Ali will be able to discuss your individual treatment plan and the associated fees.
